Better Together is Back
Better Together is a nationwide campaign which aims to build support for hundreds of charities, clubs and associations across the country by encouraging the public to support these good causes and make a difference in their communities. There's a lot to do in Better Together. 3 competitions, voting, facebook, videos, heroes, donations and more. There are three separate competitions
Once again built on Drupal 6, the site also integrated with some 3rd party services, such as the neat mapping application as provided by ESRI Ireland. That was cool because we managed to integrate it without disturbing our own internal work process flow and data collection, and all the data is still stored in the internal Drupal database. We actually exposed the mapping data through a RESTful interface to allow ESRI's application to access that and do all its magic. A big thing this year has been the introduction of the Giving Challenge. This is where every participating organisation gets a donation button above their video and their supporters can donate to that cause. The cause with the most donors wins a massive ten grand. Obviously, The Wheel, who run the competition, are not in the business of fundraising for other organisations, so they brought in Total Fundraising to manage the logistics of the Giving Challenge. Once again, Better Together is shaping up to be a great success, with videos, votes and charity hero submissions flowing in.
