24theweb and me

I'll be taking part in 24theweb.com on 13 November and I'm pretty excited about it.  It's a sprint for three teams of 7 web pros to create a web-site each for three nominated charities.  As I work for a charity by day, I've a particular interest in participating.  But it'll be really cool just to work with a bunch of other professionals on a web project, as usually I end up working as a one-man-band.  I'm looking forward to sharing ideas as much as anything.

We'll have 24 hours to come up with the goods, which actually gives us a load of man (or woman!) -hours.  Given that my web projects hitherto have come nowhere near the 150 odd man-hours we've got, I'm optomistic.

One of the biggest challenges is most likely to be to tease out exactly what it is the clients want and need, which can often be separate things...

I really liked a little bit of fun on the application form to get in on the act: you had to tick a tickbox that said: "sleep is for the weak"!

I'll be tweeting throughout if you want to keep up with it.
